Laken is a new arrival to Wisconsin. So far, she's enjoying the beautiful weather and the cool evenings compared to the humidity of Texas. She has settled in nicely to our life with two Fetch alumni resident dogs. Laken can be shy at first until she builds that important trust bond with you. While she can be timid, she's also independent and curious.
When we aren't home or sleeping, Laken is crated. She doesn't protest much. Nor does she bark while in crate until she hears us come into the house. Laken sleeps through the night, which is a huge bonus.
Being a puppy, Laken exhibits puppy behavior such as stealing things which aren't hers: phones, remotes, shoes. She hasn't destroyed anything yet, but it's best to keep and eye on her and close doors to rooms with tempting objects. She'll grown out of this 'theft' phase in time.
Laken's schedule:
6 am wake up and go outside, eat and back outside
7:30 am in the crate or joins me in my home office
Throughout the day she and the resident dogs play and hang out in yard or nap inside
6 pm eat and a walk
10 - 11 pm back to the crate for the night
Things Laken likes:
- Being outside
- Getting all 20+ toys and bones out of the basket at least 3-4 times a day
- Belly rubs and snuggles
- Playing with our dogs for periods of time, then she wants chew on sticks or explore the yard
- Napping in the mid-morning, mid-afternoon, early evening
- A play session around 8-9 pm
Things Laken does not like:
- Robot vacuum though she's coming around
- Getting wet
Laken's fur is soft and shiny. She has the best spots on her legs and belly. She approaches each day with a big smile on her face. Laken enjoys being with both people, once she knows you, and canines. She may do better if there is another dog in the home for companionship. She would also do well in a fenced in yard where she can run around.
Of all the fosters we've had the pleasure of helping, Laken is the most chill dog. She's sweet, fun, playful and a giant goofball. Who doesn't want all of that joy in their life? Laken will become your best buddy in no time. She's waiting for you to make the first move :)
