Updates

Kelly gets up at 5:30 to potty because that’s when her foster sister gets up. She does her business like a champ and then goes back to bed until about 6:30 or 7, when she eats breakfast. She plays with her foster sister until the last person leaves the house, about 8, and is corralled in the kitchen with the doors closed. She will settle into her crate if necessary, with minimal whining, but we don’t usually crate her because she’s been happy in the bigger kitchen space with the doors closed. We give her a frozen Kong and toys and she’s content to nap and play while we’re at work. She can go about 5 hours without a potty break since she’s still so young. We take her out again when we get home from work about 5, she has dinner at 6:30, plays with her foster sister, and takes her last break at about 9 PM, then it’s bedtime. She sleeps on a bed in the kitchen without a peep.

She has found a great playmate in her foster sister, and the two wrestle, play keep away, and tug. They also snuggle and nap together. Kelly can hold her own with the bigger dog. She loves to snuggle with her foster parents and will nap in our arms.

Kelly is mostly potty trained with a few accidents since we began fostering her, and that was because we didn’t pay attention to her cues. Kelly is always ready for an adventure and is very curious. She wants to sniff and explore everything on our walks. I bring a bag of treats on our walks and she is learning “drop it”. We run a little together, and she absolutely loves it. It’s fun to run behind her and watch her ears fly.

Kelly is smart, curious, and very food motivated, which is a great combination for learning! She will be a wonderful addition to her forever family.
