✅ Indie had 11 puppies who have all found their homes; now she’s hoping it’s her turn!
✅ Spent several weeks with a trainer: With appropriate intros, she was able to integrate into play group without a problem.
✅ Sweet girl who loves her toys, to play, and her humans.
Indie is generally a good dog in the house! She is almost a model house guest. No accidents or destroying furniture. She is very curious and will sniff everything, but can be told what is hers and what is to be left alone.
Her activity is a mixture of high and low: she loves to run around and play fetch but also enjoys snuggling on the couch with her humans. Indie would do the best with a fenced yard to stretch her legs and play. She is used to activity (at least two walks per day) and is ready at any point to play. She likes toys like chewable balls and will run after it to play with it if thrown. Be forewarned, she will destroy soft toys.
She is crate trained and has no problem sitting in a large enough crate with something to chew on for hours. She will also voluntarily lay in the crate if a couch is off limits.
She loves pets! Especially if you scratch at the base of her tail. But little humans will have to be told not to pull on her tail! If you get really going on the pets, she’ll nuzzle her head into you and lean her whole body into yours for more.
Indie enjoys the finer things in life; like the couch and the bed! She will get off but will plead with her big puppy dog eyes to be let back on.
Once she gets to know you, she will want to be wherever you are, especially if that means she can go outside.
Indie is good with all people! She’s never found a person she’s disagreed with.
She is also good with grooming, like using a Dremel on her nails and brushing her coat out. She will generally let you mess around with her without issue.
Indie still struggles with leash and dog reactivity. She will need a caretaker that will be able to continue her training to set her up for success. In play groups she plays well but in the home environment and on walks she is protective and is reactive. She will also pull on walks if you let her and will need reminders to walk beside you instead of right in front of you.
Indie also has an active prey drive. She will pull on walks and will go after small critters if you let her.
Indie knows the commands “sit”, “stay”, and “come” well. She needs work on “down” and “off”. She is also used to waiting in place in a “sit stay” for her daily meals. Marking good behavior is done with a “Yes!” with a long, drawn out ‘s’. She needs work on her recall when there are distractions outside like other dogs or rabbits.
