Hat Trick is a confident, goofy, medium-energy tripod who loves toys, wrestling with other dogs, and his people! He does well in a crate or free-roaming, enjoys car rides, and is a top-notch fetch partner. He's completely house-broken and doesn't counter-surf or chew on non-toys.
Hat Trick is still getting used to his TriPawed status and can be a little clumsy but he has no issue with stairs or jumping up on the couch for cuddles. He does like to (gently) put his mouth on your hands while playing or petting him but he is easily redirected with a firm "no" and giving him a toy instead. Because of this, I'd suggest his ideal family would have older kids who wouldn't be overwhelmed by this behavior-in-progress.
His current routine is: sleep quietly all night in his crate, take a 20 minute walk in the AM, play with toys for a while before napping in his crate until noonish. Then we play fetch in the yard for about 15 minutes and he either free-roams or naps in his crate until we take his evening 20 minute walk. Then it's more toys/belly rubs/wrestle-mania until bedtime.
Hat Trick is working on his leash skills; he can pull pretty hard and barks at some other dogs he sees on-leash. We walked by a dog who was barking at him from their fenced yard and he paid no attention to that dog, so we are still learning about his reactions to new-to-him dogs. He has been great with my resident dog after one day of slow-introduction; they walk side-by-side on leash perfectly and he loves to wrestle with her. His play style is a little rough, so the ideal family for him would have another dog who also likes to rough-house. I think he'd also be fine as an only dog.
Hat Trick is super sweet and loves his humans! He is so engaged and smart and would love a family who is excited to spend time with him and continue teaching him new commands.
