Griffen
Labrador Retriever x Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Mix | neutered Male | 7 Yrs 1 month old | 51 Lbs
Meet Griffen — the Gentle Soul With the World’s Saddest (and Sweetest) Eyes
If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion who prefers quiet company over chaos, Griffen might just be your guy. At 7 years old and 51 pounds, this neutered Labrador Retriever Mix has perfected the art of being gentle, polite, and just a little dramatic — especially when he gives you those big sad eyes.
Personality:
Griffen is a soft, shy, sweet-natured boy who bonds deeply with his humans. He loves scritchy-scratchies, slow moments, and simply being near the people he trusts. Loud or unfamiliar places can make him anxious at first, but with reassurance, he settles in beautifully. He’s not much of a toy guy — he’d rather hang out, observe the world, and quietly judge you in the cutest way possible.
Training & Skills:
Griffen comes with a solid foundation:
Leash trained and walks politely
Crate trained and sleeps through the night
Understands he should sit for meals
Currently learning his name along with “stay” and “leave it”
He’s a smart boy who wants to please; he just needs gentle consistency.
Routine:
Two meals a day: morning and evening (3 cups dry food total).
One longer walk a day or a couple shorter walks - not fussed if a walk is missed.
Lounge time: around the house, exploring the yard, or just being close to his human.
Bedtime: sleeps soundly. He sometimes goes into his crate but we let him free roam at night.
Social Skills:
With dogs: Initially anxious but warms up quickly. Generally indifferent once he understands they’re safe. Still learning what “play” means.
Kid Tested (fine around kids of all ages. Overall pretty indifferent)
Not cat tested but does bark at them from afar. It's definitely an alerting bark, not aggressive.
With humans: A total sweetheart. Even in new places, he greets people beautifully and allows handling of his face, mouth, ears, and paws — making grooming easy.
Quirk: He’s a bit timid around running water. Can be food possessive at times so he is currently fed in his crate with the door closed.
Best Home for Griffen:
Griffen would do best in a calm, patient home with people who appreciate a gentle companion and are happy to move at his pace. He’d be an amazing match for someone who wants a low-key buddy, enjoys daily walks, and has love to give a sensitive dog learning to trust the world.
If you’re ready for soft eyes, soft ears, and a very sweet boy who blossoms with kindness, Griffen is waiting to meet you.
