Garth is the sweetest, most chill dog around! He LOVES to be pet! He’ll kindly rest his chin on your lap or nudge your hand for pets, but he knows to find a bone to chew or a comfy spot to nap if you ignore him for a minute. Garth is very gentle with everything he does, including taking treats (see video)! He is good at easy loose leash walking and really enjoys sniffing everything on a walk! He currently does great living in an apartment (doesn’t bark at all!) but with how happy he is to go outside, I’m sure he’d love a yard to play in!
Garth greets everyone he sees with puppy dog eyes and a helicopter tail (just like how he asks for belly rubs after a nap, see video!) and is incredibly friendly to everyone he’s met. He has not met any children in my care thus far. He hasn’t figured out how to jump in a car yet, but once assisted in, he is content to look out the window or nap during the ride. He learned how to use stairs within a couple days so jumping in the car is just another thing he’ll have to figure out! He easily jumps out of the car, though, and is excited to see what the world has for him. Like when he saw a cat at the pet store. He was interested in meeting the cat, but I could get back his attention with some redirection.
Garth is crated during the work day and happily licks a peanut butter Kong and naps while I’m away! He’s fully potty trained too! Garth is a bit underweight right now and is expected to be ~70lbs when he’s at a healthy weight. He’s not very food motivated but loves everything that has to do with peanut butter. Garth also tends to graze his food for about an hour at every mealtime.
Garth is very good at entertaining himself and is happy to squeak a toy, chew a bone, work a puzzle toy, or watch the world go by out the window. But he also loves some playtime with his humans! He is always open to a good game of tug or chase! I would consider him a medium energy dog because he enjoys playtime and walks, but also happy napping a lot of the day away! Garth also doesn’t chew on anything that’s not a toy!
Garth will make a great dog for anyone who wants an extremely friendly, calm, sweet, affectionate, go with the flow pup! He is patiently waiting for his forever home, is that with you?!
