Flow is a hound mix who was listed at 5 years old down in Alabama but was aged at 18 months up here by a vet in Wisconsin. I know right!?! Quite the difference. Her foster mom who’s fostered close to 30 dogs thinks that she’s definitely younger than 5 years and probably closer to 2 years old so she leans towards the WI vet age.
Energy Level:
Flow is a medium to medium high energy level dog. But what does that mean? She currently lives with two resident dogs. She loves to play with them a majority of the evening and quite a bit on the weekends when her foster mom is home all day. She gets walked every 1 to 3 days depending on her foster mom’s schedule and that walk is 30 minutes long and the distance is 1.25 miles.
If she is the only dog in the household she will not be ok with a walk every 3 days and she will require more exercise. She did a really good job while at doggy daycare so that is an option for this beauty. Flow is a typical hound which means she will exercise and go all day long if you want her too. Hounds are natural athletes and love to be out and about.
Training:
Flow is a typical hound on a leash. She will sniff the air and ground on a walk and sometimes get stuck on a scent. When she’s not on a scent she’s a decent walker and just saunters along. Flow is working on learning commands that you would learn in a basic dog obedience class in her foster home.
Crate Training:
Flow easily goes in a kennel without any fuss for a chicken strip. She will happily snuggle up on her plush blanket and take a nap during the day too.
Grooming:
Flow is a short haired dog and will require minimal grooming.
Dogs:
Flow loves every dog she meets and just wants to play with them. She is goofy & clumsy and it’s fun to watch her play antics. She’s always been the favorite playmate of any dog that comes to my house.
Cats:
Flow lives with 2 cats that mostly live upstairs behind a cat/baby gate. She will stare and bay at them when she sees them. In the few times the cats have been brave enough to come down she gets really excited and tries to meet them. And she will chase them. Therefore she is too intense to live with kitty friends due to her natural hunting instincts.
Kids:
Flow is excellent with kids. She has met many of all ages at meet and greet events. She is very calm around them and just hangs out. Flow does give kisses and once she’s comfortable they become sloppy mouth open wet kisses.
Flow would make an excellent companion for a person who likes to go on adventures or has an active lifestyle. Or if you are looking for a playmate for your current resident doggo she would make a great addition to your home.
