Finn found his people May 17!

Finn sleeps until about 7 am most days and then goes out to go potty. When he comes inside he gets breakfast, but can be a picky eater and prefers to graze throughout the day instead of eating right away in the morning. He then will nap for most of the morning while I work and will occasionally bring me a toy that he wants to play tug and fetch with. We go outside about every 2 hours during the day since we are still working on a good potty routine. Around noon, we go outside for some extra run around time and Finn loves running and playing with other dogs. He's a little uncoordinated and will fall over during play but always gets back up looking to play more. With other dogs he loves playing chase and wrestling and with humans he loves having a soccer ball kicked around the yard, fetch, and tug of war. He then naps for the rest of the workday, or will chew on some toys and bones if he's awake. Around 4 or 5 pm, we go out for some more play time in the yard and a walk. Finn is learning leash manners but will need some more work with someone patient as he loves to trip us as he tries to sniff everything. For dinner, Finn also prefers to graze instead of eat all of his food at once. He doesn’t always remember to eat, but we have found mixing wet food in with his kibble makes him more interested and will make him eat more of his food.

Finn has loved all the people he has met. He tries to greet everyone he can on our walks. Both inside and outside the home Finn can become excited and try to jump up on the people so he can say hello more closely, but he has been doing really well with training on this and jumps up a lot less than he used to. Finn has had no exposure to children. He sometimes grabs a hand instead of a toy on accident so young kids might be tough.

He is medium to low energy. Finn loves to zoom around the yard for a bit but spends most of the day as a couch potato. Finn would need some time to zoom around a park or yard a couple of times a day, but then will happily sleep while you work the rest of the day. On a leash Finn wants to smell absolutely everything but has done well with a gentle leader to give him some leash manners so he isn't tripping us all of the time.

Finn has loved all of the dogs he has met. He is super great and listens to all the cues he is given by the other dogs. He loves to wrestle and doesn't mind at all when he gets knocked over or run over and happily pops back up to keep playing. In the house he is super calm around other dogs, but out in the yard he loves to play. He totally ignores all the barking dogs in our neighborhood, and we have never heard him bark back.

Finn does great with our cats. He is very interested in smelling them and sometimes licks them but also does good respecting their boundaries and doesn't get upset if they swat at him to tell him to go away.

The vet noted a positive Lymes test so Finn was treated with a round of antibiotics. He does not show any clinical signs of the disease.

Finn can get nervous when left alone, he would prefer his humans to be close by most of the time. He will happily lounge in another room than us, but if we close him in a room, or crate him, he will pant, and quietly whine and pace for a while. He does eventually calm himself down and fall asleep. He has never tried to escape his crate or a closed room though.
