Hi! I’m Emmett (yes, my human brother named me after a Lego movie character), I celebrated my 3rd birthday on 11/2/23. I’ve grown up in a house with 2 kids (now 6 and 9 years old) and a doggie older sister. I love snuggling and laying on the couch with my people and often will find a way to nudge my sister off the couch if she’s laying where I want to be. I sleep in my crate at night and stay in it during the day while my family is away. Unfortunately I dont do well with blankets or beds in my crate because my mouth gets bored and I need something to entertain myself so I will destroy it! I love chasing squirrels in our fenced in backyard and have been known to catch 1 or 2 in my day. I love to go for walks and I’m working on building up my stamina again, but mom and I used to go for 4-6 mile walks when the weather was nice. We typically use a gentle leader harness to help me remember to slow down. I get excited when I see other dogs and my favorite squirrels out and about but I’m easily redirectable with a firm “no”.
Because I grew up with mom and my human siblings, I am a little more hesitant to accept attention and love from males but once they hang out for a bit I welcome them right in. I like to jump up on new people and often will bark with excitement. I also bark when I’m sad and feel like my family has been gone too long (sometimes the second the door closes, it feels too long). I have separation anxiety as a COVID dog, but once I remember they will be home later I settle in my kennel and take a nap.
Sometimes my smiles get mistaken for a mean look, but I really just love to smile!! Even the vet and her assistant commented on how often I smile! I promise I’m not a bad guy, smiling is just my favorite.
My family is sad that they can’t keep me due to dad’s job in the Air Force but they know my new family will be so lucky to have me and they’re excited for the new adventures I’ll get to go on with you!
