Updates

Dixie is an almost 3-year-old husky.  She is crate trained, however, we did stop crating her over 6 months ago, she had shredded her crate liner/blanket/and anything else she could access and was starting to scratch at the wood floor. Dixie is potty trained, up to date on shots, fixed, gets along with other dogs and cats, does good for car rides and she knows some basic commands. Dixie does great with our 5 school aged children but we've noticed she is very uncomfortable/anxious with our toddler and has been since our baby became mobile. She loves walks, though she tends to pull a lot to start out and she has to lead. Dixie tends to get bored easily we haven’t found a toy she enjoys, in fact, she doesn't seem to care for toys much at all. She is a very picky treat eater but seems to enjoy people food if she gets a chance. We do suspect some separating anxiety, due to the things she gets into when we are away and her behavior in the crate. There has been some digging of holes in the yard and chewing/eating anything left out, which may be due to boredom. She has a stomach of steel (she has eaten so many non-edible things, and hasn't needed an extra vet visit). She needs a home where she can get lots of exercise, attention/love, and where she isn't left for long periods of time. We did go to a trainer and it helped with being able to leave her out during the night with minimum to no issues and enforce some of the basic commands. Dixie truly is very sweet, but she is high maintenance.
