Updates

No one loves life more than Delilah. She’s your typical medium to high-energy puppy that hasn’t met a person or animal she doesn’t like. When her attempts to recruit the resident senior dog and cats into play fail, you’ll find her pouncing on her toys, chewing on a bone, or causing a bit of mischief (she is a puppy after all!)

Delilah sleeps through the night in her crate, without potty breaks, and wakes up at 6 am. She’s out for about an hour for potty, breakfast, a walk, and some playtime. I crate Delilah while I work, but let her out at noon for about an hour for lunch, potty, and playtime. After work, she gets dinner and plays on and off throughout the evening.

Delilah does great in her crate. She’s mostly quiet, but occasionally you’ll hear a whine or two as she settles in. Since she’s still a puppy, I crate Delilah whenever I can’t give her my full attention.

Delilah loves all dogs and cats, and would love to have a dog sibling. She tries to play with my senior cats as though they are puppies (it’s not appreciated). So an adopter with cats should only consider Delilah if they plan to do slow introductions and work with Delilah on boundaries and manners around cats.

We’ve been working on basic puppy manners. Delilah knows to wait until she hears ‘break’ to come out of her crate, exit the front door or eat her food. She also knows “sit” and “kennel”. We’re still working on commands like ‘down’ and ‘out’, and leash manners.

Delilah is one of those puppies that is hard not to fall in love with. As long as she gets enough exercise, she’s an easy puppy. She was recently with sitters in downtown Madison who couldn’t stop gushing over how well-behaved she was and how sad they were sad to see her go.
