Cricket sleeps overnight in her crate and starts her day when her foster parents wake up around 6-7am. She has truly mastered the trust fall as she greets her foster parents and the resident dogs by cuddling them until she lets her body fall over into a belly rub. After her humans get ready, she goes on a walk with the resident dogs for about 30 minutes. She then eats breakfast and is allowed to free roam while her foster parent works from home. She naps in the morning and around midday, she plays with the resident dogs and she also plays by herself with her toys. She knows how to keep herself occupied! She goes on a short walk (~10 minutes or so) during the day and is happy to come back in and take another nap.
She gets the most excited and high energy when the other foster parent comes home from work! She likes to start play with the resident dogs and can get a little too excited about everyone finally being home! When she gets a little too excited, she gets a little mouthy and starts to chew on things she shouldn't. She is great at redirection and listens right away when we say, "No, Cricket!" She is a smart pup, that's for sure! She also learned how to sit, down, paw, and "play dead" in about 15 minutes. Cricket is learning to not pull on her leash when she walks and she patiently waits until her foster parents says her release word, "ok!" She is working on not saying hi to every dog she sees on walks and is getting better day by day!
She would be such a great companion for a beginner dog owner. She is a velcro dog; she will follow you everywhere! She has jumped from foster to foster and has adapted very nicely and quickly in each one. She's pretty much a go-with-the-flow kinda gal! Since she is still a puppy, she is quite active and would love someone who can either take her on runs, play puzzle games with her, or play with another furry sibling!
She has loved every animal she's met and people who have come to her foster parent's house. She was a little nervous at the vet but warmed up quickly when she was given treats! Just like her foster parents, she likes to sleep in on the weekends. She has not had any exposure to kids in her current foster parents' care but in her previous notes, it was noted that she was good with kids.
Cricket loves meeting new people; however, she may need slower introductions to men. She has shown fear when men make sudden movements, but warms up when shown extra love and care with treats!
Cricket has minor urinary incontinence that is currently controlled with medication - Proin. Adopters should expect an average monthly cost of $30 for Cricket’s medication as well as routine vet visits.
