Church is a sweet, easygoing girl who is settling into foster life beautifully. She’s unfazed by everyday noises (the coffee grinder didn’t even earn a glance!) and handled having a sticker peeled off her paw pad like a champ—no drama at all.

She’s learning the ropes of winter too: snow was confusing at first, but now you can find her rolling around in it. Around the house, Church proudly serves as an excellent crumb cleaner and puts her impressive nose to work finding any stray morsels. Despite being very food-motivated, she’s incredibly gentle when taking treats.

Church is smart and eager to learn—she learned her name in just one day and already knows “sit.” She’s continuing to work on “come,” and her recall in the yard has been excellent when treats are involved.

At home, Church is learning what is hers to chew. She loves her chew bones and dog toys and does great when those are available. She’s also learning the difference between her toys and the kids’ toys—though, in her defense, many of them look suspiciously like dog toys too 😉. She’s easily redirected and improving quickly.

With cats, Church is curious and engaged. She may chase if they run, but it appears playful rather than predatory—she seems more interested in making friends than anything else.

She’s been wonderful with kids and doesn’t seem bothered or annoyed by petting, even from the toddlers at home (2 and 3 years old). She may try to give the occasional face lick, but she’s easily redirected.

Church loves running around the yard with our dog Maeve, especially chase games (Maeve is a big fan!). She’s comfortable going into a kennel (slightly resistant when we have to wake her from the couch at night) and walks on leash with manageable pulling that can be guided easily.

When the day winds down, Church turns into a total snuggle bug. She loves curling up on the couch and happily burrowing into blankets and pillows—she’s all about cozy comfort.

Important note: Church has discovered she can jump a 4-foot fence—purely in an attempt to go play with the neighbor dog. Because of this, she’ll need supervised outdoor time or to be leashed unless she has a taller, secure fence. The good news? She responds very well to recall in the yard, especially with treats, and is clearly eager to please.

Overall, Church is a gentle, affectionate, playful pup with a great temperament and tons of potential. She would thrive in an active, attentive home ready to continue her training and enjoy her loving, fun personality.
