Cassy found a wonderful home on September 3, 2021!
A normal day for Cassy starts with a morning walk with her 2 resident dog friends before breakfast. Cassy doesn’t mind her 50lb mix companions and tends to walk around them if they get in her way. She can eat in the same room with her doggy companions and doesn’t exhibit resource guarding. She has interacted with a cat at her sitter’s home and doesn’t seem to mind it either!
Upon first meeting Cassy, she is a very shy dog. It took her a bit of time getting used to her foster parents but now she loves to cuddle on the couch with them! She tends to get spooked easily by quick movements and sudden sounds. Cassy does not have experience with young children in her foster family, but they feel that she would thrive in a quieter household. Her foster parents have had friends and family over for get-togethers and parties. In those instances, she would either stay in her kennel or stay by her foster parents. She has stayed with a sitter with young teenage kids and did wonderful with them. Cassy has met other dogs and seems to enjoy their company. She gets excited when she sees other dogs across the street on walks! While she gets excited about some things, she is very quiet and has not barked much in her foster. The only time she has barked was to join in with the resident dogs' singing!
Cassy is a really low energy pup but once you get her on a leash, she is ready to go! She loves walks and we believe that her ideal family will be able to provide her with regular walks every day. Her foster family usually takes her for 15 to 20-minute walks around their urban neighborhood. In the house, she loves to sunbathe on the couch/in her kennel and cuddle with her doggy companions and people. She also loves running up and down the stairs if the resident dogs are zooming.
She was treated with a round of antibiotics for Anaplasma. Cassy does not show any active signs of infection. Cassy was diagnosed with a grade 2 heart murmur but no further follow up is needed at this time. Adopters should monitor the murmur. In the next 1-2 years, Cassy will need a dental due to tartar accumulation. In the meantime you can feed her dental treats to slow any new tartar. "
