Aye Aye, Meet Captain! 🏴☠️⚓️
He is on the lookout to be adopted and find his forever home.
Captain isn’t like your regular captain — he’s a very sweet, calm, gentle, and cuddly pup who loves to play with his stuffed animals! He loves everyone he meets, is great with other dogs, and never fails to make us laugh with his goofiness and silly personality. Captain is house-trained, doesn’t chew on anything outside of his toys, and sleeps anywhere he can get in a peaceful nap — including your lap. He goes out four or more times a day and hasn’t quite mastered how to tell us he needs to potty, so a consistent routine would be great for Captain (though he’s had no accidents since we got into our routine). He also loves to get his energy out on his two daily walks, where he enjoys seeing squirrels, people, other dogs, etc. Without that exercise, he can be a stir-crazy pup with zoomies and lots of energy, but he’s so adaptable and often matches the energy of other people and dogs.
A little more about his background: Originally from Alabama, he was a stray and was hit by a car in early September, losing his front leg. He was sent up to Wisconsin shortly after to a foster home. He’s a fighter and was already running and jumping when we met him! Despite his quirk, he does great with stairs, going on walks, getting on and off beds and couches, and getting in and out of the car for rides (sometimes needing a little lift) — especially if it’s for a pup cup!
He does best running for momentum on his three legs, so he needs a little more practice perfecting his walking strut while on a leash, but he’s a quick learner! On the leash, he’ll stop and sniff, but with encouragement and your lead, he’s ready to walk and enjoy the sights. He’s also familiar with basic commands like “sit” and “come,” but still needs some help perfecting them with continued training. He can free-roam day and night without issues; however, when no one is home, he can be a bit vocal, making his ideal home one where someone works from home or doesn’t have shared walls.
If you’re looking for a silly, adorable, and cuddly pup, Captain is certainly your boy.
