Five year old Buddy, our sweet former foster, found his forever home recently! So happy for this great pup and his new ‘mom’!

Buddy gets up when we get up. We don’t have a fenced yard, and his preference anyway is to bathroom along the walk routes. After his morning walk, he comes in for breakfast. Roaming free, will hang out with his fosters as they work or play with some toys on/off. He will take a mid-morning nap until it is time for a mid-day walk, usually a longer one of the day. Afternoon time brings play with his Kong, usually with a hidden treat inside, followed by some training time. He knows sit and come (in the home environment—outside all bets are off). We are working on ‘wait’, ‘lay down’ and ‘shake’/paw. Then afternoon nap if there isn’t much activity in the house. He loves rides in the car so he helps with errands, too. After supper, another walk and then settle in for the night.

This is a very loving, gentle, quiet pup that just enjoys being with everyone. Loves a good snuggle. He is quiet even when being barked at by other dogs. He doesn’t rile easily. I think he could be trained as a pet assistant to an assisted living facility or nursing home. Great with kids, too.

He enjoys his walks very much. He will strut along until something good to sniff comes along and will need to be told ‘let’s go’. Sometime he gets distracted with a bunny or squirrel along the way but has never harmed one. He would be good with a jogger as he has energy to go the distance. Otherwise, he is a medium energy guy.

He does well with other dogs and unknown with cats.

We let Buddy roam free for a few hours; only once have we been gone for about 5 hours, and then we crated him, and he does fine either way. Doesn’t chew furniture or other items.

He needs someone willing to work more on basic commands as noted above.
