Meet Bo! This handsome boy hails from Alabama where his southern foster home described him as “energetic, but a complete doofus!” — and this couldn’t be a more appropriate description. His zest for life is unmatched; and he just wants to explore all the new things this big world has to offer him all at once. He’s quite uncoordinated, and he bounds through the snow a bit like an uncoordinated baby calf — and it’s the cutest thing ever! He’s relatively new to living in a house - but he’s a pro! He’s crate trained - sleeps quietly all night, as well as spends any time home alone crated. He hasn’t had an accident indoors, but he has occasionally tried to mark things like table legs. We just keep a close eye on him and interrupt his behavior before his leg is all the way up; he’s catching on quickly! The first time he encountered things like the washing machine, a vacuum, or the TV, he was uncertain; we just let him investigate these on his terms, and he quickly accepted they’re just new experiences and mean him no harm. He’s acclimating very quickly to his new life.
Bo’s most endearing quality is he’s part kangaroo. When he’s uncertain what to do with himself, his favorite response is to spring all four feet up in the air. The more comfortable in our household he’s gotten, the less we’ve seen this behavior — he is a very quick learner and loves to gain his people’s approval, and snacks.
He currently lives in a multi-dog household and has done very well with his canine siblings! His interactions were a bit awkward initially, but he now reads dog cues and initiates play very appropriately. He LOVES to be chased! If you have another playful pup or are planning on a few days of doggy daycare a week, Bo can check the item on your wish list! While he doesn’t currently live with kids, he’s met multiple of various ages and loves to play with them.
If you live in an apartment, as long as you have an outlet for his daily energy needs, Bo could thrive! Thus far, I’m not convinced he barks, ever. Even if another dog nearby is barking at him or there are sounds in other areas of the house. That said, if you live downtown, just be patient with him and give him time to acclimate to his new environment as he’s been a rural boy all his life!
Overall, Bo just wants to experience all this life has to offer and is looking for an adventure partner to do it all with!
