Adopted on April 5, 2021!

Bea starts her day by waking up between 6 and 7 am to go potty and eating a cup of kibble for breakfast. Bea currently goes out for potty/walks 5x a day (7 am, 11 am, 3 pm, 7 pm 10 pm) and eats 3x a day (7:30 am, 12:30pm, 6 pm). The rest of Bea's day is then a mix of napping (especially when her foster mom is on the computer for work), cuddle sessions with her foster mom, and playing with her toys. If we're lucky some of the neighborhood dogs will also be outside at the same time as our walks and Bea gets to say “hi” and play for a little bit! After a long day full of adventures, Bea settles into her crate for the night (usually by 10:30pm) and sleeps soundly through the night in preparation to do it all again the next day!

Bea likes meeting new humans - especially if they have treats! Sometimes it does take her a few minutes to warm up to new people but pretty soon she's asking her new human friends for cuddles! She does tend to warm up to new people faster when she meets them outside than if she meets them in the apartment building. However, Bea is wary of taller/larger men - especially if there are several of them hanging out in a group.

She has only ever met kids under the age of 12 in passing and she's done very well! Bea gets very excited and loves to get pets and cuddles from the kiddos (though she does sometimes try to jump and needs to be reminded to be gentle)! It should be noted that all the kids that she's met are familiar with dogs and were very comfortable and respectful with her.

Bea's overall energy level is medium. Bea is the most energetic when she first wakes up in the morning and is let out of her crate, when sees her dog friends on walks, if she gets the zoomies, and when she's cuddling/playing with her foster parents. Apart from these short bursts of high energy, Bea is pretty mellow throughout the day, tends to keep herself busy with her chew toys, and enjoys basic interaction with her foster mom. Bea currently goes out for potty/walks 5x a day.  Bea is great on a leash! The only times she pulls on the leash are 1) when she sees/smells her dog friends and wants to play and 2) if she wants to just quickly pee and then go back inside - she pulls on her leash to lead her mom back to the apartment building entrance.

She loves to meet other dogs on walks! Bea will pull on her leash until we can say “hi” and play. However, she's only interested in interacting/playing with other dogs for a max of about 5-7 minutes. Then she just wants to sit and watch the other dogs play or continue walking her own way. Bea does not have any cats in her foster home.

So long as food and non-toys are put away, Bea can roam free. She currently roams free in the apartment while her foster mom is in the shower.  If Bea is left in her crate and can't see her humans (in the bathroom or asleep in bed), she'll start to whine and bark a little. As a result, her crate has been positioned so she can see her foster mom sleep.

Bea has conjunctivitis in her eyes so she’s being treated with a topical eye medication.

Bea is a total lovebug and enjoys the company of adults, kids, and dogs alike! But please be sure to keep in mind that she is still a rescue. She was very timid at first but warmed up relatively quickly to her foster mom, but she does still startle easy and can be skittish. Bea does not do well in large open spaces, she'd much rather be in a contained, cozy space where she can feel safe and secure.  If she does ever get too scared when outside, she'll completely freeze in place and start to shiver/shake, so her adopter needs to be patient and very gentle/comforting to help her feel safe in these situations. Also noticed that groups of larger/taller men scare her - however, she did quickly warm up to her foster dad and any men who are walking dogs!
