Apollo is an absolutely lovable little guy. He's only 6 months old but wants to cuddle and snuggle as much as he can between play sessions.
We start our mornings around 5 or 6am and go for a walk - 1 mile? 2 miles? 3? As long as you're hanging out with him then he's happy to go along! Sometimes he weaves a bit in front of you but can quickly correct and doesn't pull on the leash. once we come back, it's food time with his foster brother and then time for some play out in the fenced in back yard!
Around 7am, it's time to hop in the crate and take a nice long snooze until I can come home sometime around 12/1pm to let him out for a mid-day potty break and some more play time! Then it's back in the crate until the humans are home around 4/5pm.
Then it's dinner time and MORE PLAY! Did I mention this boy knows how to play? But, he's also a SUPER cuddle bug. One of his favorite past times is to snag a chew toy and hop on the bed to cuddle up with his foster mom before it's back in the crate for bed.
Still wondering if this is the WONDERFUL boy for you? Wonder no longer:
- Apollo is pretty much potty trained! He hasn't had any number 2 accidents in the house and has only had a couple pee accidents when we first got him and none in the crate! Essentially, if you make sure you're keeping an eye out and taking him out every couple hours or ~30 minutes after he drinks a ton of water, he's going to be good to go :)
- Apollo is also crate trained! Note - he's not a huge fan of being alone. He will bark and whine if he's crated in a room alone but hasn't let out a single peep once we got him crated next to our resident dog. This is likely important for those living in an apartment.
- Did I mention Apollo is a super cuddler? He loves attention from people and loves to lie down with his head on you or curled up next to you on the couch or bed.
- This boy is brilliant and food-motivated! He learned sit and touch in a single session (still needs some food to focus) and knows that he has to go into his crate for breakfast/dinner! We're just working on a crate command. With 30 minutes a day, think of all the cool stuff he could learn! We're working on some other basic commands as well.
- Apollo has also shown no sign of aggression towards our 2 cats. He does show interest and will sniff and wants to play/chase if the cats run too suddenly, but can be called off as needed. He just needs some more exposure and time to get used to the family pecking order and learn that the cats may not want to play with him. As long as they've got somewhere high up to stay away, it's no biggie.
