DIY DOG TOYS!
Here are some ways you can entertain your doggos with items found around the house. These are great craft projects for kids too!
Braided Rope Toys
Supplies needed:
Old t-shirts or fleece fabric
Instructions:
Cut 1 inch-wide strips from your material.
Select 3 strips for each toy (for a thicker stronger toy you can use more strips and bunch them together into 3 sections).
Tie all of the strips together in a knot at one end.
Tightly braid the strips together making sure to leave enough fabric at the end to tie the other knot.
Tie the other end of the rope toy to secure it.
Sniffle Mat
Supplies needed:
Thicker fabric (this holds up better in the laundry)
Scissors
A fabric tape measure
Sewing machine or a heavy duty needle and embroidery thread
Instructions:
Decide which size of mat you’d like to make.
2. Cut two squares of each tier size, stack the matching squares and sew them together around the edges. You should have 4 different sized squares. ex. Sew both 10”x10” pieces together, 7”x7” pieces together etc.
3. Stack each square in order from largest on the bottom to smallest on the top such as:
4. With all your squares lined up, sew across them from corner to corner making a large “X”. Each corner should be able to “flap” up.
5. Trim any loose threads for the safety of our dogs.
Dog Tug Ball Toy
Supplies needed:
Tennis Ball
About a 1⁄2 yard of fabric
Scissors
Instructions:
Cut fabric into 3 strips – roughly 6” x 14”
Lay the strips down on top of each other, all running the same direction.
Place the tennis ball in the middle of the strips and tightly wrap the fabric around the tennis ball.
Tightly knot the loose ends of the fabric strips securing the tennis ball inside.
Cut each loose end into several 2” wide strips.
Using three strips at a time braid them into sections. Try to make the braids as tight as possible and be sure to knot the end.
